Well what a week at Glorious Goodwood it has been, certainly for Racing Diary readers. Now it is Saturday with the Stewards Cup and the Group 1 Nassau Stakes on the card. wow! Free Horseracing Tips from Racing Diary…
Midday can Land Back To Back Nassau at Glorious Goodwood…..
It has been a great week, can we have more winners? Here is Saturdays Glorious Goodwood Betting Podcast….
3:05 Glorious Goodwood, Midday, Win. The big race of the day is the Nassau Stakes where Midday is bidding to go back to back for Sir Henry Cecil (we are calling him Sir Henry because he should be) and Tom Queally. The jockey has been writing on a blog and has an interesting take on the race;
The French fillies, Stacelita and Rosanara, pose a threat, Stacelita was seventh in the Arc last year and won a Group Three last time, while Rosanara was second in the French Oaks. I think Luca’s (Cumani) filly Contredanse, who won the Italian Oaks, is also worth keeping an eye on. That said, I wouldn’t want to be on anything else. Barshiba should set a decent pace and make sure it’s an even tempo which will suit us. Midday obviously won the race last year and is a year stronger now and on her best form she will be the one they all have to beat. She has been impressing at home and providing the ground’s OK, which it has been this week, she goes there with a massive chance.” (Racing UK Blog).
She has a rating of 120 and I do think it is the French fillies who pose the greatest threat to Midday. That said I fully expect Midday to show her class and I make her my NAP of the day.
Also on Saturday at Glorious Goodwood….
2:30 Glorious Goodwood, Sea Lord, Win. Given a peach of a ride at Newmarket by Amy Ryan, Sea Lord will be busy having run on Friday and turns out again here. At the time of writing I do not know how he ran on Friday, but I think if Mark Johnston runs him on Saturday then he has a huge chance here. Mark Johnston loves winners at Goodwood and this could be another. Greg Farley takes the ride, having won his first Group 1 in Germany last week for the yard. I like Sea Lord, but am worried about the quick reappearance. but trust Mark Johnston’s judgement here.
3:40, Glorious Goodwood, The Stewards Cup, Enact, Win. I can sum this race up in one word. Nightmare! I was hoping that Hawkeyeganoo got in but sadly he missed the cut. The form of Jim Goldie’s runner was strong so by taking that as the primary form line I came up with Enact, for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore. This is a race where margins are so small and luck plays its part. I will not have a major play here but I like the chances of Enact and will venture a small each way bet.
4:15 Glorious Goodwood, Pausanias, Win. In a race with hardly any form we need to simply do what we have done all season, back Richard Hannon’s two year-olds, they usually come up trumps. The man is a genius with the youngsters and in Richard Hughes we have an exceptional horseman aboard. It is worth a punt, the clues are there!
4:50 Glorious Goodwood, Bahamian Sunset, Win. I don’t usually pass on ‘words’ I have had for horses, but this is one that makes sense. Given a mark of 77 for it’s handicap debut I think we may be on to a nicely treated sort here. It is interesting that Paul Hanagan has chosen this of the Fahey pair, given the form of Majestic Myles. I am told it is strongly fancied and could be well treated, again worth a punt.
Worth a look elsewhere on Saturday….
3:15 Doncaster, Arcano is out again having disappointed in the Greenham Stakes but comes back to action. A top class two year-old all eyes will be on him to see if he is back to that high standard. No bet, but interesting.
