Didier Drogba was Chelsea‘s goal hero again at Wembley as Carlo Ancelotti‘s side became only the seventh club in history to achieve the League and FA Cup Double.
Drogba’s 58th minute free-kick matchwinner earned the Blues their first-ever Double in Ancelotti’s debut season in England. But Chelsea had to thank goalkeeper Petr Cech who saved Kevin-Prince Boateng’s penalty in the 55th minute after Juliano Belletti had brought him down.
Frank Lampard also missed an 87th penalty for Chelsea, who hit the woodwork five times in the first half, but it was too late for Portsmouth and the Blues hung on to clinch the Double. Chelsea captain John Terry hailed a “special” feeling after helping the Blues claim their historic victory.
