WILLIAM HILL are betting on who will deliver the first Budget of whichever Government is in power following the General Election, and make Alistair Darling a 9/2 shot to be the one, installing George Osborne as 4/9 favourite.

Who Will give first budget of next parliament?
‘This bet could be compicated for punters by the possibility of a Hung Parliament which could well influence the identity of the person delivering the first Budget of the next Government.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills offer:
George Osborne4/9
Alistair Darling9/2
Philip Hammond8/1
Vince Cable8/1
Ed B*lls10/1WHO WILL SUCCEED DARLING AS CHANCELLOR?
WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on who will eventually succeed Alistair Darling as Chancellor and have installed George Osborne as 2/7 favourite, and also offer 7/1 Philip Hammond; 10/1 Ed B*lls and Vince Cable; 25/1 David Miliband; 33/1 Ken Clarke; Alan Johnson;Ed Miliband. ‘Osborne looks a shoo-in, assuming the Tories win the General Election, but his leader may have other plans for him’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
HANGING AROUND
A HUNG PARLIAMENT is a popular choice with political punters who have backed that General Election outcome from 3/1 to 9/4 as various polls suggest that it is a viable outcome. However, Hills make the Conservatives red hot 2/5 favourites to emerge with an overall majority, while Labour are 11/1 outsiders to do likewise. ‘Punters are not hanging about to get their cash on a Hung Parliament’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
IT’S A DATE
WILLIAM HILL believe the General Election will take place May 6, 2010 and make that date 1/4 favourite. They offer 3/1 that it will take place before then, and 12/1 that it takes place after that date. ‘All the indications are that May 6 is the obvious Election date – but things don’t always go to plan in politics’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
